Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

The abdominoplasty is the surgical operation which allows to remove the cutaneous-fat excess in the abdominal region (tummy tuck). In more severe cases there is an excess that covers the pubic region as an “apron”. The abdominoplasty can be performed in a traditional fashion (complete) or with minimal access “mini abdominoplasty” (indicated to solve more localized and slight imperfections). In the first case the scar after surgery will extent from one hip to the other, in the latter case it will be shorter.  If present, abdominal hernias and diastasis recti can be repair with sutures during the surgery. Sometimes a mesh might be necessary to reinforce the abdominal wall. The abdominoplasty can be performed under local, local with sedation or general anesthesia.
